Born and raised in a multicultural environment, Anam Hussain developed a deep understanding of identity and diaspora experiences, which led her to approach storytelling and writing through a nuanced and empathetic lens. It’s no wonder she became a journalist.

In 2024, she became an Al Jazeera Ambassador and is currently a contributing feature journalist at Al Jazeera Digital, exploring the intersections of cultural heritage, history, and humanity. She is also a member of the knowledge and training center at the Al Jazeera Media Institute, where she has designed an e-learning course on travel journalism.

Anam’s dedication to travel storytelling was recognised in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Hamaray Heroes segment in 2024, where she received an award for launching Capra Falconeri Traveller, an independent print travel magazine celebrating Pakistan. Her travel writing has also appeared in renowned publications like Condé Nast Traveler, Condé Nast Traveller Middle East, and Suitcase Magazine, where she continues to highlight unique destinations and diverse cultural narratives around the globe.

When she’s not writing, Anam is teaching. She has led feature writing and storytelling workshops across Pakistan and in Birmingham, inspiring the next generation of journalists to find their voice and engage audiences in ways that spark curiosity and drive change.

A collector of elegantly bound fancy notebooks and glossy travel magazines, a seeker of scenic afternoon tea corners and balcony views: Anam has all the marks of a true wanderer at heart. She has lived in Pakistan, Germany, and the UK—and holds a European passport. Each place holds a piece of her heart and her luggage, yet she remains in search of home.
